Hermione Granger was considered the smartest witch of her age, and rightly so. She had passed almost all her OWLs with Outstanding, with the exception of Defense against the Dark Arts, which was an Exceed Expectations. However smart she was, the majority of people paid little to no mind of Hermione Granger. She was a muggleborn Witch with dentists as parents. Even in the Muggle World, she was average and not something to be fawned over. Hermione never really minded this fact and thrived in her anonymity.
As Harry Potter’s best friend however, this anonymity was something that was gone almost instantly. Hermione Granger now had a rank, a title. One that said ‘I help Harry Potter fight the Dark Lord, I’m no important for your lives’. Of course, Ronald Weasley had this title as well but he wore it with pride, not minding that he was a sidekick sometimes. Other times, he could not wait to be in the spotlight and that was where Keeping and Wizards Chess came in, as well as Hermione.
It was a given that Hermione Granger and Ronald Weasley were going to get married but as sixth years, no one in their right mind would tell these two that. Harry Potter would have just laughed and said ‘I hope to Merlin they do and leave me out of it.’ As sixth years, the trio was still getting over Sirius Black’s death as well as the betrayal that they felt. How were they supposed to have known that Mundungus Fletcher was really a conniving bastard of a spy. Severus Snape was a spy and was so good no side knew who really had him but Mundungus . . . he had stolen the family heirlooms that rightly belonged to Harry and Draco Malfoy and reported to Voldemort whatever Lucius had left out in his report of the night at the Department of Mysteries. Mundungus had betrayed the Order of the Phoenix in a way that only rivaled Peter Pettigrew’s betrayal of the Potters that Halloween night.
Now, the trio were going to deal with another betrayal. One that again involved one of their own. It was never really her fault, they could see. But, the betrayal would be too much for them and even if they stayed together, it was going to split the Order in two. Why would Minerva McGonagall leaves the Order and Hogwarts anyway?
